Sponsored by the businesses and not-for-profit agencies serving Little Falls, the Canal Celebration offers a full range of activities, with highlights including a grand parade, a community picnic with fireworks, antique car shows, carnival rides, road races, craft and novelty vendors, and lots of great food. Canal Days Community Picnic in Little Falls, New York - A Great Place to Visit

Community Picnic in Rotary Park

Join us at Rotary Park as we kick-off the Canal Celebration with a fun Community Picnic in Rotary Park!

  • Chicken and Ribs BBQ sponsored by Elks, 5pm til sold-out.
  • Great regional band - The Pine Ridge Mountain Band, featuring Bob Wilman play from 6pm-to-9pm at the Marina.
  • Food booths and delicious home-made pie, by local non-profits and churches.
  • Youth fun paddle, sponsored by the Little Falls Family YMCA.
  • Duck Dash for Great Prizes, sponsored by Little Falls Rotary.
  • Thunder on the River Fireworks Show, starts at 9pm.
  • Golumpki sale at the Polish Home.

The Canal Celebration swings into fill gear with an epic Grand Parade on Friday, follwed by great music and a carnival!

  • Grand Parade, starts at 6pm on Main Street - 5 divisions, floats, bands, prizes, and trophies!
  • Carnival, midway and food court at Eastern Park, after the parade.
  • Video gaming tournament at the Community Center.
  • Basketball competition on Main Street.
  • Historical Society tours from 10am-to-6pm.
  • MVCA Art Show, at 7pm in Canal Place.
  • Emmanuel Episcopal Church Cookout at 5pm.
  • Little Falls Public Library book sale from 9am-to-5pm.
  • Golumpki sale at the Polish Home.

Enjoy a spendid summer Saturday in Little Falls, with a great carnival, craft fairs, road races, golf, and more awesome music by local bands!

  • Little Falls Public Library book sale from 10am-to-3pm.
  • The carnival continues all day in Eastern Park, with rides, midway games, food court, arts and crafts sales, entertainment and demonstrations.
  • Don't miss out on the superheroes appearing for the delight of all at Eastern Park.
  • Enjoy some literary and thespian fun with Alice in Library Land from 1-3pm, with readings from Lewis Carroll's classic sponsored by the Libary and LiFT Theater.
  • Chicks along the Canal offers a spendid craft fair and flea market with woman-only vendors, in Canal Place.
  • John Serow Memorial Youth Fishing Derby, from 8am-to-11am at Lock 17; $2 registration fee.
  • YMCA/LF Lumber Freedom Run, at the YMCA by Western Park. This is a 10K, 2 Mile Run and 2 Mile Walk, with t-shirts to the first 125 registrants. Check-in at 7:45am, race starts at 8:30am. Entry fee is $20.
  • Fun in the Park, family fun, face-painting, bounce houses, and food. All for free! Sponsored by River Valley Church.
  • Little Falls Historical Society tours - where community history lives.
  • Sherriff Farber's Kid Fun Run, a non-competitive half-mile run for children up to age 10. Starts at the YMCA; check-in at 9:30am, run starts at 9:45am. Free entry, tshirt is $6.
  • Sunrise Yoga in Eastern Park, with Lisa at 9am.
  • Golumpki sale at the Polish Home.
  • Rock climbing at Moss Island from 9am-to-2:30pm.
  • Moss Island Fun Paddle at the Rotary Park launch from 12pm-to-2:30pm.
  • Ethnic Polish food sale at the Holy Spirit Polish National Church on Gansevoort street at 11am.
  • Growing Up on the Southside, a walking tour into the past, starts at Ann Street Market at 10:30am.
  • Canal Celebration Golf Tournament, sponsored by Little Falls Rotary, starts at 9am at the Mohawk Valley Country Club.
  • Iron Man Classic raw-power lifting meet, 8:30am at the YMCA.
  • Tours of the esteemable Herkimer Home estate.
  • Farmer's Market at M&T Bank parking lot from 8am-to-12pm.

  • Antique and Clasic Car Show, from 8am-to-Noon in Western Park; 21 classes, pre-registration is $7, $10 at the park. Food, music and vendors.
  • Famous chicken and rib BBQ at the Elks Lodge with music on the porch.
  • The carnival continues all day in Eastern Park, with rides, midway games, food court, arts and crafts sales, entertainment and demonstrations.
  • Chicks along the Canal continues to offer a spendid craft fair and flea market with woman-only vendors, in Canal Place.
